IT World Awards Name Jason Soroko CTO of the Year—Security Software
Congratulations Jason! Network Products Guide has published its 2020 IT World Awards winners and Sectigo’s own CTO of PKI, Jason Soroko, was named the Gold Winner in the category Chief Technology Officer of the Year: Security Software.
The outlet specifically cited Jason’s role in the launch and success of Sectigo’s “Root Causes” podcast as a key reason for the decision. Co-hosted with Sectigo Senior Fellow Tim Callan, the podcast’s growing popularity speaks to Jason’s leadership and educational impact in the cybersecurity sector since assuming his CTO role at Sectigo.
Jason is tireless in his contributions to advancing cybersecurity innovation, standards, technologies, and education. He has held lead technology roles for companies throughout his career, including business architect, head of malware research, and senior information systems developer with a large security hardware manufacturer. He is also a frequent speaker at industry conferences and participates in the Forbes Technology Council, highlighting his dedication to market education.
Since joining the Sectigo in 2018, Jason has drawn upon this experience and vast knowledge of digital security, authentication, and IoT technologies to provide steady leadership.
He currently leads Sectigo’s innovation in private trust certificate management solutions and shares his wisdom regularly as both a mentor to his team of engineers and co-host of Root Causes. The podcast, which recently published its 110th episode, explores topics including digital identity, crypto agility, PKI, S/MIME, DevSecOps, and other cybersecurity issues. In just over a year, Jason and Tim have reached more 20,000+ IT professionals on SoundCloud alone with clear and candid narratives that help IT pros around the world navigate complex security challenges.
Jason has stressed that today’s CTOs are uniquely positioned to engage in big-picture thinking, synthesizing complex ideas and uniting stakeholders throughout the enterprise with a sense of common purpose. He walks the talk here—taking seriously his responsibility to build on the past, optimize the present, and envision the business's future, as he spearheads delivering impactful future-proofed (and quantum-resistant) digital identity solutions.
It is a role that Jason has filled with remarkable success at Sectigo, and this recognition from the IT World Awards is a testament to his unmatched skills in spotting and advancing the company and cybersecurity as a whole.
