Comodo CA and Device Authority Bring PKI Network Solution to IoT World Congress in Barcelona

LONDON, Oct. 09, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Comodo CA, the world’s largest commercial Certificate Authority and a leader in web security solutions, has teamed up with Device Authority, a global leader in Identity and Access Management (IAM) for the Internet of Things (IoT), to offer an IoT solution for private PKI networks. The resulting solution, Comodo CA’s IoT PKI Manager, delivers mutual authentication and lifecycle management of certificates installed on IoT devices – a critical function enabling devices to constantly be updated with new certificates if a device security vulnerability is discovered, or when an operator wants to take proactive security measures.
The companies will be giving live demonstrations of the technology at the IoT Solutions World Congress #IOTSWC18 during 16-18 of October, 2018, in Barcelona, Spain (Hall 2, Stand #A133). Comodo CA partner Gemalto, a global digital security leader, will also be exhibiting on the stand.
“The differences between private PKI and publicly trusted SSL networks cannot be underestimated when it comes to the IoT,” explained Damon Kachur, Vice President IoT Solutions, Comodo CA. “The ability to track devices from factory to front room makes all the difference in guaranteeing the authenticity of the device and the private network it is connecting to. With Comodo CA’s IoT PKI Manager, organizations can trust that only authenticated devices are entering their network, while rogue or untrusted devices are left at the front door. This practice ascertains whether the device is entitled to the permissions it is requesting.”
Kachur, who has 15 years of security experience with Verisign/Symantec, and is a member of industry standards working groups, will be available for briefings at IoT Solutions World Congress. [A frequent industry presenter about PKI ecosystem security and threat intelligence, Kachur will also be speaking about “Learning From Our Past; Preventing Future IoT Attacks,” at the Symposium on Securing the IoT in Boston on Tuesday, 30th of October, at 11:15 am.]
Comodo CA’s IoT PKI Manager protects networks and standards, shielding organizations and their customers from rogue, infected and/or malicious devices. The solution enables businesses to differentiate IoT products by contributing to their security throughout the product lifecycle, bring secure devices to market quickly, and build an ecosystem of trust.
“Attackers are looking for ways to penetrate a device and its security systems, making it critical that operators are able to refresh and update the security on devices at any time. Our KeyScaler™ platform offers Comodo CA-issued digital certificates, which provide automated certificate provisioning and management for IoT devices, giving our customers a simple-yet-powerful way to manage security across their IoT networks,” said Darron Antill, CEO, Device Authority.
Device Authority’s KeyScaler Platform powers Comodo CA’s IoT PKI Manager with a device authentication engine and policy-driven certificate manager to provide a single, comprehensive security offering for IoT applications. The solution delivers a software-defined device provisioning, along with automated policy-driven trust, privacy, and security management.
