March and April 2024 have seen more than 25 new Bugzilla bugs being written up – more than 10 times the typical pace. The reports highlight three points of failure: misissued certificates, improper responses to inbound misissuance reports, and most notably, delayed or denied revocations of misissued certificates.

And the issues are far from over. With some CAs denying revocation, it leads to the question of what’s going on and why.
