When adding an organization to your system, you may encounter the error message: "StateOrProvinceName is invalid."  

This issue often arises when entering the state or region information. Below, we outline a solution that utilizes the ISO 3166-2 subdivision names to resolve this error. 

 

Problem: 

This is an example of the issue: 

The customer attempted to add an organization with the following details: 

City: Athens 

State: Attica (also tried "Attiki" and "Attika") 

Country: Greece 

However, the system returned the error: "State name is invalid." 

 

Solution: 

The issue was resolved by referencing the ISO 3166-2 subdivision names, which provide the standardized format for state and region names. For Greece, the correct subdivision names are available at this ISO link : https://www.iso.org/obp/ui#home

 

Steps to Resolve: 

1. Access the ISO link : https://www.iso.org/obp/ui#home

2. Search for the country, in this example, search for Greece

3. Click on the 1^st option that appears after the search  

4. Scroll down and search for the required State/Province name and copy the values as shown in the table. For example, "Attica" should be entered as "Attikí" Please check:

5. Enter the Information. Replace the state name field with the ISO 3166-2 code (e.g., "Attikí") when adding the organization. Please copy and paste the values obtained from the ISO link. 

6. Validate the Organization: Submit the organization details for validation. The system should now accept the entry without errors. 

 

Additional Notes 

Always use the ISO 3166-2 codes for state names when encountering validation issues. 

If you face similar errors for other countries, refer to their respective ISO 3166-2 subdivision codes. 

Ensure consistency in data entry by standardizing the use of ISO codes for all geographical fields. 

By following this process, the "State name is invalid" error can be effectively resolved, ensuring smooth validation of organization details.
